  For that matter, why do the various New Testament gospel authors vary so widely in descriptions or sequences of events, the nature of the Jesus character (loving, demanding, communistic, libertarian, etc.), the timing of apocalyptic predictions, and so on?
 
  And why did the Jesus character turn on a fig tree? 
 
What Historicity?
 
  That the Christian Bible was written largely in the 2nd century CE has been asserted and argued to good effect by many secular historians (refer to our resources page).  And it is due to this latent complilation of various seminal documents and sayings -- including a post-insertion of a central Jesus character -- which resulted in notable historical gaffes.  One of the more prominent mistakes was the biblical assertion of Nazereth as the home village of the Jesus character during his (largely undocumented -- at least in the approved canon) developmental years.  Never mind that secular archaelogists (that is, those without christian sponsorship) find no compelling evidence that Nazereth existed early in the first century CE. 
 
  As it happens, the entire Nazareth reference was likely a confusion with the term Nazorean -- a reference
